Wake up early and share a tasty breakfast
As a species, we achieved many things we thought of as impossible - we landed on the moon, we erradicated smallpox, we invented chocolate ice-cream and we (often) manage to live together peacefully. However, there are still many obstacles.
We’re convinced that the only way to overcome them is together. Everyone is an expert in and deeply passionate about something. So why shouldn’t we take a moment of our time and share these skills/the expertise with others? The broader our skillsets and horizons, the more innovative solutions we can find for obstacles in our daily lives.
And isn’t it amazing to hone a skill and finally ?
We invite you to apply for skillshare.space - a physical location where passionate & knowledgeable people share their best skill/knowledge area and learn from others.
We don’t want to gather a group of experts in one field (as normally done at e.g. conferences), but rather aim to bring together a group of 8 people with completely different skills and backgrounds. A group consisting of both people with specific skills (activities leading to a determined result) and people with in-depth knowledge in a specific (theoretical) field.
In short: 1 skill & 1 knowledge area a day. 4 days in a row. 8 people. You sharing your skill/knowledge area + you learning 7 skills/knowledge areas. Plus a lot of time to discuss learnings with the other participants. You will come back a different person.
Wake up early and share a tasty breakfast

skillshare.space #1 will take place on a weekend (Friday-Monday) in September/October 2019. We will send out a doodle in good time and fix the date together with you.
Cost of participating in skillshare.space depends on the location and program. However, we created skillshare.space because we like the concept and not for financial interests - you’ll at maximum have to pay your share of the groups expenses (food, accommodation & activities). Plus we will keep the costs low and try to cover as much as possible through sponsors. Anyways, your application is not binding and will help us greatly to plan the event & find sponsors.
You are deeply passionate and knowledgeable about a certain topic. It could be anything, from highly perfected baking skills, to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, to the study of gender-relations in French Guiana. You have a clear understanding of the underlying methodology/techniques and are able to break it down so a kid could understand. You are eager to share your passion with others, to learn from them and to engage with their passion.
If that sounds like you and if you’re interested in participating in/following skillshare.space, please sign up for our newsletter.
You will receive occasional news and an invitation to the first edition of skillshare.space. This is not a binding application for the first edition, but will help us greatly in planning the first edition, understanding the potential skills we could host and finding sponsors.
We travel to the skillshare.place by train, we cook delicious vegetarian food and leave no traces.
No matter the skill/knowledge area or the presenters race, gender, religion, sexuality or age, we engage with the topics and embrace diversity.
To truly engage with insights both during sessions and social activities, we commit to stay away from emails, phones and other everyday life commitments.
We are two random people that became friends. We enjoy learning new things, delving into unknown topics and spending a weekend away in nature.
During week days, I enjoy the constantly changing context and madness of running the operations in a quickly growing startup. What I find most inspiring about working in Switzerland's startup ecosystem is being exposed to its wide variety of initiatives and meeting people with different passions. Besides work, I try to spend as much time as possible with loved ones, reading and enjoying the mountains.
Working as an accountant and then switching over to software engineering taught me how useful and practical different skills can be. As snowboard instructor and coding teacher I learned that sharing knowledge and skills is one of the most rewarding experience in life. In my free time I love to discover new places and to disconnect by spending time in nature.
